Cracked bolt question

I'm curious if anyone can explain the cracks on the end threads of this bolt? Were they part of the original manufacturing process of the bolt? Or maybe overzealous hammering? Has anyone seen this before?

I'm not suggesting that this bolt is less safe than the typical bolt out there, I felt as comfortable rapping off it as I do with any piece of fixed gear.

FYI, the cracks appeared confined to the end threads, and anything that might appear to be a crack on the lower threads is probably a visual artifact.

That's from hammering.

Was that a plated hanger?

Thanks for the feedback.

I have limited knowledge identifying hardware, but it looks like a plated hanger to me.

theft deterrent. you can't unthread the nut from the bolt with the threads stripped.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
