Headed to Taiwan in a bit and wondering if anyone on here is around there. I have the Long Dong guide book and will have a rope and trad rack.

Lead ~10b/c trad/~11a sport. Don't care if we climb under that and I'll gladly catch you on anything harder.

Will be there 10/29 to 11/6.

Should be some sort of Taiwan FB group, try to find that.
Otherwise just show up at one of the crags (bus access)
and you will probably meet many cool, bilingual, fun to climb
with folks. When we went, I had a partner (not from there) but
we met and ended up climbing with many fine folks!
Have fun, it is super fun stone!!

Matt is back over there as of about 2 months ago.
You can probably reach him if you start here:

facebook.com/RockClimbingTa…

or here:

climbstone.com/author.html

He's a good guy to connect you to the local community.

Hey
I live in Hong Kong but could potentially head out to Long Dong 31st Oct-3rd Nov for some climbing
Will you be driving?

Put up a post in the facebook group. Is Matt the author of that book? That is the one I got.

Zoe I am not sure. I wanted to drive but I've kinda stalled on getting my international driving permit. Sending stuff in tomorrow and hope that is enough time.

Yes, Matt wrote the book and he's a great guy if he has time - he just moved back and may be in flux with life, so who knows by then...
As for Driving - avoid downtown Taipei if you have never driven in a SE Asian Metropolis, but beyond that, it's mellow. Long Dong is way out in the middle of nowhere and the roads are very friendly and pretty empty.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
