Local news had a story on a rescue at Cherokee Rock Village today. They referred to a "rock climber" and went on to say that the man fell 50-80ft while jumping from one rock to another. Don't know if it was actually related to a climbing accident, or the typical rock jumping visitor. The report lead me to believe it happened today, but may have actually been over the weekend. Any info?
The accident happened around 6pm on Saturday. He was not a climber. He looked to be about 30 years old and was doing the typical rock jumping. He was concious and talking during the rescue, however, he had no memory of what happened. It probably was a 50ft fall straight down to the ground. He said most of his pain was in his hip and his knees. After the helicopter had already arrived it took the rescuers another hour and a half to get him out.
