Has anyone been out to the perch lately? How is the smoke situation? Planning a trip in the next two weeks and have heard mixed reviews about the smoke but no first hand info from the perch.
Thanks
Jess

I was at Redfish a few weeks ago and although it was obvious, I certainly wouldn't let it deter any plans.

Is your asthma severe?

There is a remote cam at Redfish lake. Google Sawtooth cam and you should get it, or the one at Stanley. The Pioneer fire is headed for Deadwood reservoir area, northeast from Sawtooths. That's the biggest smoke machine right now, so wind direction will matter. Ketchum or Forest Service, or Inciweb, should have smoke advisories somewhere.

I live in Stanley, feel free to PM anytime for conditions! Climbed the slabs a few days ago and it was beautiful weather!

I was at the perch between august 15 and 20. Conditions ranged from little to no smoke to very smokey (perceptible throat/lung distress on a rest day, but not THAT bad). Most days were just a bit hazy.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
