Smith Rock weather

Smith Rock looks to be hot early next week. At what point does it become too hot there, is there enough shaded areas? I'm making my first trip there this weekend, and hired a guide for Monday, but wondering if low 90's is too brutally hot there. Hydration is an obvious recommendation, but not sure if this trip is only for the toughest, or if the common man can endure.

Thanks,

Jason

You can usually manage to keep in the shade if you're willing to move around. Watt's guide has general info about when a cliff is in sun or shade. You could always start in the cool of the morning, take a shady siesta in the afternoon, then climb again in the evening.

You will have difficulty surviving in the sun. 90's forecast means 100 at Smith. A guide will take you to the shady areas, or start real early and end by noon.

Thanks guys. We'll probably take on the climb early and later on Sunday, then trust in the guide to keep temperatures on Monday.

Cheers and climb on,
