Cannon Cliff Camping Options

Heading up to Cannon in a couple of weekends. The Franconia Notch SP campground is booked solid. There are plenty of "family campgrounds" and hotels in the area, but neither option is ideal.

Can anyone recommend a good option for a primitive site on USFS land that's not too much of a drive?

Thanks in advance

check out the zealand campground, they have a ton of sites, but they may also be booked up. Its also right at the trailhead for mt. oscar and middle sugarloaf if you were feeling like cragging or some less adventurous multi pitch…@44.2300121,-71.7571241,35233m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m13!4m12!1m5!1m1!1s0x4cb47c627ab4ffeb:0x28e45cd5109f63d3!2m2!1d-71.701047!2d44.178157!1m5!1m1!1s0x4cb477ce8df3c661:0xfe4a4ef0c4f55dd7!2m2!1d-71.5005951!2d44.2645683

Tripoli Road is close to Cannon. South on 93 just past the Kanc as I recall.

I've seen folks sleeping in the parking lot. Not sure if it's what you want but if you get an alpine start I don't think you'd have a problem. Haven't been there in a couple years though.

I tried sleeping in the parking lot last year and got thrown out at 3am by a state trooper. My .02 head into the nearby National forest, find a place to park, hike away from the road and camp in the woods. It's legal, cheap, and easy.

Lafayette camp ground is right there that's where I camp usually and I love it .

There's a great option for indoor camping at Greg's house in rumney. He's a great guy, and only lives 35 minutes from the trailhead.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
