We're planning a family road trip to bouldering at RMNP. We'll have our 1 y.o. son. We're traveling with a super small camper, so campsites that have an electrical hook up would be great. Ideally, it would be nice to camp near the trailhead for bouldering, but I'm not sure if that's possible.

Thanks!

Your best bet is the Moraine Park campground. This is relatively soon after you take the left after going through the entrance gate. It is open year round and provides RV as well as tent camping. It is not right near a bouldering trailhead though. You will need to drive to the trailhead or take the shuttle. It is as close as you can get.

The other good option is the Glacier Gorge campground. I looked on their site though and it is an uncertain opening date because of a water project.

This map is good: nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/...

The terminus of Bear Lake rd is the Bear Lake trailhead parking lot. That is your trailhead for Emerald lake.

There is bouldering a mile up the Fern lake trail. Reached from Moraine Park. Its the easiest flatest hike to boulderng in RMNP. There is also Endovalley which is a drive but a very short walk and would be good for Kids. have Fun if you go to the alpine areas, but be warned carrying a 1 yr old up there wouldnt be the easiest in my opinion.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
