I'm going to be passing through Flagstaff and am wondering if I can boulder at Kelly Canyon or if it's blocked off/snowed in as the page suggests it usually is this time of year.

Road is certainly closed, its about .99 mile to the trail head/ boulders. Possible to snow shoe or XC Ski. I would guess that there is large amount of snow in the canyon at most of the popular areas. Haven't been out there to do any ice bouldering but I would conclude it is out of season.

Check out Grasshopper Boulders or The Anvils. Relatively close to Flagstaff, and tons of fun in the sun on similar but different sandystone. Mt. Elden is in Flagstaff and has some locations that are good to go during the Winter.

Thanks for the report and suggestions!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
