Got an excellent Saturday in at Stone last weekend and was psyched to see solid numbers of people climbing out there. Friendly reminder: Please make sure that you are leaving the climbing area no later than the posted 5:30pm time. This means taking the proper steps to make sure that which ever route you are climbing you plan the descent into the total time. If you are bouldering please be aware of the time as well.
As we were hiking out at 5:30 we noticed two parties high on the cliff that were either rappelling or starting to rappel. On the gravel road out we ran into the ranger who asked us if we were the last ones down. We told her we were not and the folks up there were making their way down. She was super nice and she let us know that every weekend, without fail, climbers are late getting out of the park.
Its becoming a problem. I'm asking to please be respectful of the parks posted hours and do your best to plan accordingly to be out on time. The fine for being inside the climbing area after hours is over 200.00 per person so if thats not a motivator to bail I don't know what is.
