I would find some people they also enjoy the mental and physical challenge, rather than only sit depress in front of television or playing with themselves.
Ah, the bold flash. Indeed a very good reason to climb

Why do any recreational activity? Same reasons but climbing is better.

Two questions

Why do you enjoy rappelling?

Why do you enjoy abseiling?

Assessment of one's physical, mental and technical capacities. It's usually fun. Beautiful Scenery. Intimate method to experiencing one's environments. Badass.

Abseiling is better because it's German

I struggle with this sometimes. I wonder if I spent my time doing something else would I be in a better position in life. I hold my dad responsible for this. He always says, "if you can't do it in jungle boots and a 50 pound ruck, I'm not impressed." He'd be one of those "shoes are aid" guys if he was a climber.

I justify climbing to myself by repeating all the above posts. All the cool places, the fitness, quiets the voices. To me, these are good reasons. I love this earth and to me, climbing is the best way to see and explore it. I don't enjoy following a well traveled path. All of the most beautiful places in this world are rarely seen and experienced.

for me, climbing provides a vehicle for self-actualization. When I'm climbing, I feel like I'm actually living life rather than just letting it pass by around me.

Here are some of the things I like about climbing:

Physically and mentally challenging
Good exercise
Get to be outdoors
Gives a sense of achievement
Socializing
Fiddling with gear
Planning for routes
Allows me something to think about during mundane tasks
Learning new things
Adventure

Climbing's got a lot going for it, from my perspective.

climbing has also given me goals and motivation to do something with my life and historically greats climbers such as the Iron Monkey give me a role model that I hadn't been able to find previously

I want to swim with the red serpents in the golden desert.

Isn't it obvious? It is our obsessive and addictive human nature

btw I understand that its a troll, but I've been drinking. which makes me prone to feeding trolls, and sharing off the wall barely coherent assocations.

OP- Why do people rappel face first with their arms out to their sides. "weeeee, I'm a bird!!!"

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
