Crested/Gunnison Ice?

After checking out multiple guide books, MP, and scoping hard over the topo maps, I have to believe there is more ice in the Crested Butte/Gunnison area than I'm finding reports for. Anyone have "Locals" information on good routes in the area? I'm trying to focus my searches north of 50 and within 30 minutes drive time of Crested Butte. Does that cut me out? Skiing or hiking in is completely kosher with me...
