Don't forget the lip stud as well, this guy is a regular badass.

These jackasses are the inevitable consequence of the arrogant "selfie culture..." obsessed with making their facebook version of themselves look as "cool" as possible, shamelessly mimicking whatever stupid fad they saw on MTV last night.

A. You know her worth based on one photo?

B. We have no reason to believe she's sharpied anything, correct?

Can we leave her out of it, and stick to the topic at hand - these guys are vandals, isn't that enough without trying to attack them by attacking the character of a girl they happen to be standing near?

I don't quite think MTV is all the rage these days.

Are college kids really dumb enough that they didn't know that writing on rock in permanent marker wasn't going to come off?

These are different people than the MSL writer on the First right?

Dumb college kids unfortunately are not in short supply:

I'd like to think you can be narcissistic with class. I made this image after a couple hours of trash cleanup in a local park. It was my bio photo for my SCA trail crew in 2012.

Hey remember when CU students wrote something on the Third Flatiron?

Yes? Cause it's still there.

Not to state the obvious

This seems like as good a place as any to ask about Ernest Greenman. I understand he was a surveyor who climbed in Boulder in the early 20th century. Does anyone know why and how the plaque was placed up there in 1998? What's the full story behind it and the Greenman trail? Is Green Mountain (where the trail ends) also named after him, or is it just the trail?

Vandalizing the Flatirons in this day and age is clearly unacceptable. I'd imagine that everyone who has been named and shamed feels some sense of shame by now. All the same, remember that these people are just 19. While Boulder is a lot more crowded today then it once was, other people have made these selfish choices before, and the damage will probably be cleaned up within a few days, or fade within a few years.

Wait, can we find out from Kaleb if MSL is Fire Mike and if so, did he really write that craigslist reply?

Haha me too but in that time, it was alot more likely someone would punch you in the face for being a dick or doing something stupid. I'd personally rather catch a punch and a black eye that will be gone in a couple weeks than public humiliation that will hang around the internet forever.

Plus, a black eye, even if you just got beat down, makes you look like a bad ass. A sentiment that I think no one would grant to these jokers. Give them all black eyes and they might actually look hardened.

Kaleb told me that no one from his group is MSL.

The first edition of, "Climb!" (late 70's) goes into some history of who Greenman is. Here's a newer edition,

You are right, it wasn't a nice thing to say. So I removed that part of the comment. Feel free to edit it out of yours if you would like.

I understand the anger, truly i do, but it seems there could be a better way to go about this than publicly shaming me and giving out all my personal information.

We could all chip in and send you some flowers. Would you like that?

When someone apologizes by saying "I'm sorry, but . . ."
Not an apology.

Second Flatiron vandals must have been true to what he said. I scrambled up top today and unless I'm blind, it has been removed.

From the book "Boulder Hiking Trails" by Cushman & Cushman: The Greenman trail is named after Ernest Greenman, Boulder's "Johnny Appleseed." Greenman arrived to the area in 1896 and planted hundreds of apple trees. He was one of the founders of the Rocky Mountain Climbing Club.

Green Mountain predates him, it must have been named for something else. Does the RMCC still exist? What about all the apple trees?
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
