Afternoon, I just moved to Pittsburg from Utah and would love a few suggestions on close climbing or bouldering areas.

Indoor would be fine too, but would prefer outdoor.

Please just list them off and I can go through mtn. Project after that. I just have no idea where to start or even look!!

First, I am sorry for your move (I work in Pittsburg and would rather not).

The closest outdoor climbing would be Mt. Diablo and Pine Canyon, though there are climbing closures due to bird nesting. In my opinion, Pine Canyon is vastly superior to Diablo with slightly better "rock" and routes. Keep in mind neither place should be climbed after it rains.

3 hours will get you towards Tahoe and all that goodness for the weekend.

Gear- there is an REI in Concord that is very close to Diablo rock gym, but REI's gear selection is minimal. The best gear shop in the area is Sunrise Mountain Sports in Livermore. Berkeley has a better REI and Sports Basement. Sadly, Marmot Mtn. Works is gone.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
