Commando. Less weight to hold you back from the send.

Color is not as important as is size.
2 to 3 sizes too small is highly recommended for those sketchy voyages on the sharp end where leakage could be catastrophic!

Isn't leakage always catastrophic?

These. Trust me.

I can never go back.
These have a nice fit (hugs you, but not restrictive or tight)
breathable
dries quickly so you can get away with 2 pairs, washing/drying one pair, while wearing the other.
easily worth the money, I bought 4 and will probably never buy another brand again.

Agree the boxer-brief is a nice comfy fit, but I don't like them as long in the leg as shown in the above ad. Squared off shape, size for me. Holds the jewels in place and doesn't bunch up in your butt crack.

These undies are a solid choice (shameless self-promotion):

Similar to Ex Officio give-n-go, but more friendly to your wallet.

Anything snug. Lol. Make sure it doesn't fall of while you climb.

For cragging I wear whatever, doesn’t matter.  Almost always a boxer brief.

For multi-day adventures I wear a pair of moisture wicking ExOficio boxer briefs.  They are great and don’t leave you feeling grimy.  Dry all day.

Well, Rei Boxer Briefs is a nice pick.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
