New Map Feature

The new maps do not give specific locations... just thought I point that out. Unless is being built at the moment, and in the process of being improved, is not better than the old maps.

I preferred the old map format versus the new map format. As I could see relative areas while viewing a specific area. This really helped with understanding the location of one boulder in relation to another.

Areas not showing up on map is kind of a hassle(and I'm assuming that happens bc you don't have exact data?). Maybe you could do a different color for climbing areas without an exact location?

I like the drop down feature, but if you could offer options for "routes"(how are these organized - by area, stars, ??), or "areas" that would be cool.

Also would be neat somewhere on the site if you could search within x miles of a location. E.G. I'm visiting friends in Philadelphia and I just plug in "climbing areas within 30 miles" and get a list of map view.

All in all though, it's nice work. Thanks.

I guess you absolutely need to enter a location when you create a new area now?

That's correct. If you don't know where an area is, don't post it. This may reduce the speed at which we collect new data, but the location of all areas is critical to the evolution of the site, so it's now required.

It would be cool if the routes listed on the side were organized by either name or grade.

This should be fixed. You'll need to refresh the page in your iPad. Thanks for posting.

Kind of a cool idea, but it only locates one area. If I am trying orientate based on areas I know, this can be difficult.

Does the tool exclude all routes 5.6 and less? If I move the slider all the way to the left, all routes disappear below 5.7. It would be great to be able to see the 4th class - Easy 5th class routes...

Do we report wrong locations here? For example, on the map for NRG, WV, the Kaymoor crag is located on the south side of the Meadow River. This is incorrect. It should be on the south side of the New River, upstream from the bridge.

There's a link next the location data on the area that says "Wrong Location?". Click that and tell us the right one!

I noticed the page has changed (dropped the .php) to
mountainproject.com/scripts…

Super cool.

It would be cool if the classic routes that one has already climbed showed up with gold stars.

Ah, thanks. I fixed it up so we still support the older URL as well.
