My Prediction for the Olympic Climbing Competitions.

I'm predicting a Terra Incognita article about how climbing as an Olympic Sport some how equates to Imperialism, Toxic Masculinity, Oppression, Cultural Appropriation, and Cis-White-Males are the worst.  The article will touch on three  of the five topics, but mostly be cringe-worthy, and not use a lot factual data to make it's arguments.  There will then be a 12 page MP forum to discuss the one page article.  In the 12 page forum, at least five posts will be deleted for "violating community guidelines".

Oh I can already see this one happening. I bet it'll center on Nathaniel Coleman's rugged good looks and chiseled jawline, but somehow villainizing him,  even though everyone who's ever met him thinks of him as "a pretty good guy".

So poorly attended that the comps will be a Category E Sport and never see a minute of TV time.

I don't think so. Climbing is "so hot right now." Mainstream media interviewed Honnold about Emily Herrington's accident. My dad heard about Brad's death on Fox.

That just means they will hire better writers that's all

I think that was the exact context I used.

None of the US team will medal and it will be blamed on crusty old trad dads and their staunchly ethics that prevented the sport from evolving and getting on par with Euros

Half way through her quarter final lead Brooke Raboutou will blow her shoe, fall and will be heard yelling while being lowered down: “Mom! Why didn’t you tell me number for Rock and Resole?!”

It'll probably be a great time for the climbers and spectators, and show people unfamiliar with anything other than Free Solo that climbing isn't all risk and danger on huge walls.  Ondra is so hot/cold, I'm thinking 50% chance he has a bad week and fails to medal.  Janja will probably sweep the women's competition.

Well this feels pretty much given considering all the speed specialists in Toulese this weekend got a single zone if any at all, and none of them made it past hold 20 on any of the lead routes.

Slightly off topic, but can someone explain why Japanese athletes competed in Toulouse, if that country already had all their slots filled?

After a lot of searching, the best answer I could find is that they were invited by the IFSC, so they competed.

Thanks!  What a clear and transparent process!

And this is why the combined format is SO dumb.

Not gonna interrupt the construct of whiteness?

I'm just happy I discovered My Life With the Thrill Kill Cult this year.

We've all been there before.  I remember my first time.  I thought the article was a genius troll article, with its brilliant use of sarcasm and nonsensical pros...  Then I realized it was real, and some how, some way, the "Slaydies" were just colonial oppressors...
