Fatality on Mt. Sill
|
(taken from the Inyo County Sheriff's Office Facebook post): MT. SILL (PALISADES), CA. October 22, 2019 – On October 20 (late afternoon), two hikers/mountaineers were descending the L-shaped snowfield below Mt. Sill when one slipped and tumbled approximately 300-400 feet sustaining unknown but serious injuries. His partner notified the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office through the use of a satellite communication device. So sorry to hear about this. Sending my condolences to the friends and family of the deceased. |

Does anyone have any details? I wonder if they had an axe, traction, helmets...? |

Very sad. Always hard to lose a member of the tribe. My condolences to the deceased’s friends and family. |

It’s terrible no matter what the age, but these deaths of young people are a stab in the heart. |

His brother posted on that fb page saying they had training and proper equipment. |

Just posting to say, hope his partner and family can find peace --- |

Was it on the descent route to the glacier ? |
