Currently we have access issues fairly prominently displayed at the top of a page so that (ideally) folks see it first and explore what it is before reading further about the crag. Would it be possible for crags with seasonal closures to have a more prominent ‘this crag closed’ sign on both the app and the web that appears and disappears with the closure and opening of the crag? Obviously this system would require knowledgeable locals committed to ensuring that closure dates are accurate, but that seems pretty feasible. Thoughts?
My impetus for this is that over the years there have been a handful of climbers violating the Trout Creek closure and it might help if folks see really clearly that it’s closed when they’re researching the crag before actually going. With the current model I think there may be a degree of alert fatigue that goes on where many, many crags have some degree of access issue and folks might not pay the banner the attention it’s due as a result of seeing it more often than not on all the other pages they look at.
