For those who haven't heard, Steve Charest, ski, ice, and climbing guide, Petra Cliffs co-owner, and CRAG Vermont board member was in a serious ice climbing accident this week. While the details are still coming together, we ask folks to keep their speculation to a minimum. The details of the accident will eventually come together but for now there is more important work to be done. A  GoFundMe campaign has been started for the Charest family to offset medical, travel, and childcare costs. All funds go to Steve's wife (another incredible climbing guide, gym co-owner, and CRAG-VT board member), and their young daughter McKinley. Please donate and share widely.

The Charest family has been one of the biggest supporters to the Vermont/Northeast climbing community for more than 20 years. Hosting countless events at their gym free of charge, serving more than a decade on the board of CRAG-VT, and guiding hundreds of new adventurers in the mountains of the northeast. I can attest that few business owners in the area support their neighbors more fully than they do. I have never seen a charity organization or college group enter Petra Cliffs without leaving with the support of the gym. They have given tens of thousands of dollars to the Burlington community. Dig deep, the time has come for us to show that support for the family that has given so much to us.
