The LIM'ICE works on other screws, to the extent that it works. Since it's based on a flat file, it will change the geometry of the screw teeth. Also, you still will have to improvise your own jig for "jointing" the teeth--that is, filing from the end of the screw to insure that all the teeth are the same height--before putting the screw into the LIM'ICE. After buying and using one of these tools, I concluded that they are best used for addressing small nicks and incipient dullness, but that they are no substitute for competent re-machining of the screws. In short, you can use the LIM'ICE to get your screws into moderate sharpness, but not into WI5 sharpness. |
