I am surprised that there has been so little response to this tragic accident. Did no one here know Timothy Wibisono? According to the articles, he was free soloing in the Uberfall area. I’m not looking for analysis of what went wrong (not much to say there). I’m just interested— I hope not inappropriately so— in what he was like. The Gunks is crowded but the community is still small enough that we see the same people all the time. I figure if he was in the Gunks regularly I’ve probably had some contact with Tim and I’m curious to know more about him.

Yes. :( very sad news. RIP, climber. I’m so sorry for his wife and two young children.

I didn’t know him personally, but my friend who lives in Baltimore used to climb with him, so I heard about it on sunday. I’m assuming the weekend/holidays is why it hasn’t gotten more attention on MP.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
