Early cold? Check - the classics in NH saw ascents in October.
Lots of ground water? Check - record precip these last couple months.
Snowcover? Check - we just a got a big dump, so that groundwater won't lock up too quickly.

Got on Crawford notch ice yesterday - a little warm but it was solid and forming well. Forgot my phone in the car, so no pictures, but it was decent. Now we pray it doesn't all melt in the next few months...

Amphitheater was getting there by the looks of it, we climbed trestle smear which was miserably thin. Then did standard which was a little steep, but solid. Saw other people do penguin, and some friends did stuff at hanging garden. Not a ton of volume on anything but it was all developing nicely.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
