How does one place an alpine tag on a route?

What is an "alpine tag"?

Look under route type on a route name and you'll see in many cases it says "alpine."

See for example Owen Spalding

But when you create a new route under route type this option is not present and it is not clear how you input it.

Also, look for example at the Iron Hayden area: Iron Hayden

A graphic pie chart appears dividing the routes by type.  Here 50% show as alpine (orange pie) yet all routes are on the same wall and all are individually tagged as "alpine" in the type field.

Got it. Thanks.

You need to select Other for route type AND add a commitment level (I, II, III, etc.)

I tried that without success.  I just get a blank field where it would have said trad.

It's based on the area above it being classified as "Alpine".  All routes in an alpine area are alpine.

When does alpine tag show up? Consider this route I just posted: https://www.mountainproject.com/route/114612330/north-ridge. Currently no alpine tag.

It says "Alpine" now.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
