Has anyone been up there recently, and know the amount of snow on approach/climb/descent? Thank you

Are you asking about the standard Whitney trail? Was there last weekend (6/23-24), and there's two patches of snow: (1) by cables, and (2) trail crest. Both are melting out quickly and have bomber boot packs. No need to bring any traction devices or axes.

You may be better off following the Whitney forum for the latest: whitneyzone.com/wz/ubbthrea…

I was up on the Mountaineers' Route this weekend (6/30). No snow on the approach to Iceberg Lake. Small amount of snow in the Chute and at the top of the Mountaineers', but it's easy (and advisable) to avoid. Crampons & ice axes not needed.

Does anyone know the current conditions for the mountaineers route? I'm planning to do the east face and descend the mountaineers route next week. Does anyone know if it is icy - do we need crampons or ice ax to descend? Can you rap the top part of the mountaineers route?
