Last minute opportunity to climb Yosemite between July 4- 6 but no place to stay. Anyone have space in a reserved site available, space in a lodging (perhaps a friend cancelled) or know of something other than illegal bivy?  I don't want to chance Camp 4. Coming from Los Angeles; just one person. Thanks in advance!

Drive outside the Park and camp. On second thought I actually wouldn't drive anywhere in the Valley July 4th weekend. Prepare to wait in massive car lineups, you might as well just stay in LA...

Have you checked the three Valley campgrounds on recreation.gov? If they are all full, check back frequently, as there are cancellations.

On July 4th? Forget it, if you find a spot, go buy a lottery ticket! I suggest camping on the Forest service land outside the Hwy 41 entrance. There is a nice dirt road there, with many bivy spots, perfectly legal. Its just a bit of drive into the valley from there (30 min).

No one would possibly cancel on July 4th? And if everyone thinks "no way," there might be an opening.

I guess I need to buy a lottery ticket, as I just got a notice from a hiking meetup group completely random, that someone is offering a campsite at Upper Pines Campground, those exact dates I need.
