Here's the scale...you can interpret the intermediate numbers (fractions and irrationals) however you like.

0 -- Stripped of pride, lower than the dust of the earth, as humble as could possibly be.  (I could be a great climber or a lousy one.)

2.5 -- I secretly know I'm better than everyone else, but I don't make a show of it.

5 -- I sometimes vocalize my superiority to other climbers and talk condescendingly.

7.5 -- I often vocalize my superiority to other climbers and talk condescendingly.

9 -- I can't climb unless my shirt is off and everyone is fixated on my 8-pack while I'm pulling down 5.15.  Unless you're as bad-ass as me, or super hot, I will not give you the time of day.

10 -- All other climbers shall bow before my infinite greatness.  All climbers of lesser caliber should cower in shame and give up climbing forever.  If you do not climb as well as me, you don't deserve to live.

Where would you rate yourself on this scale, 0-10?  Any negative number would be self deprecating.

Remember, this has nothing to do with actual skill, just self perception as a climber.

I'll go first.  I would probably be a -2.  Note that this is not necessarily a person stripped of pride.  Pride is an often misunderstood concept.  Pride can take many forms, and is never a virtue.

-2. Unless I'm at a popular gumby area on a weekend, then it's a 3 or 4. Then I remember I'm at the same area because I suck and it's -2 again.

how could a n00b be arrogant or condescending, exactly.
and no

I don't want a negative number.

better but similar would be something like; have you ever sprayed too much beta?  Rate your inclination to do that
....
and then perhaps.

even if you have only a little knowledge; its easy to be a overeager.

I have only gotten 3 people killed on multi-pitch climbs and was able to cut the rope and finish them free solo... so I think that puts me maybe around a 10 (pushing 11).

I spray down Sharma, from my TR'ed 5.6, and tell him that pre placed gear on a 5.14 is weak sauce.

You need to go shirtless with spandex on.

Does your amp do "sub-zero?"

No it only goes down to 2 because zero or lower would be pointless and I don't like odd numbers.
