There’s a book called Rant by chuck palanchuik (spelling?) where rabies is an important plot element. A great read for anyone interested in rabies.

No.  At no point would contracting rabies make you a stronger climber...

"Do you have any idea how hard it is to get good rabies out here?"

My cousin passed away from rabies. He basically had what appeared to be the flu, went to somewhere there was no medical access, and by the time he realized what was going on it was too late.

Kind of crazy, as not many people die (in the western world at least) from it.

Only one way to find out.

I would say that it would depend on the type of route...steep and juggy, yes... slab, absolutely not!

I have only climbed with aids on a few climbs so not alot of experience with it.

If you have bird beaks and hooks, you are allowed to receive steroids?  Awesome!

easily disproven

If you want a name Jeanna Geise.  mostly though just get vaccinated.  either before or even After exposure.

unless ofc you want to "die" after you get an epic climb.  ?

anyways, this place is weird.

This is from the CDC website:

https://www.cdc.gov/rabies/symptoms/index.html

Once clinical signs of rabies appear, the disease is nearly always fatal, and treatment is typically supportive.

Once a person begins to exhibit signs of the disease, survival is rare. To date less than 10 documented cases of human survival from clinical rabies have been reported and only two have not had a history of pre- or postexposure prophylaxis.

Back to the original topic - since the first signs of rabies are blurred vision and tiredness, I don't think there would be even a brief window where rabies would be beneficial to rock climbers. Such a shame, otherwise we could all be sending 5.15's with only a not-quite-100%-but-really-close chance of dying a miserable and painful death a week later!

He wasnt going to make it once he showed symptoms, rabies is 100% fatal by the time you feel sick or have a fever. So access to good health care would not have saved him.

Rabies as a threat to climbers is real if you climb cracks, roofs, arches where they nest. Another more direct threat is histoplasmosis which you can contract from batshit/piss in cracks. No joking matter

If you smell amonia in cracks take care.

My brother died from rabies. He was bitten by a rabid brown bat that he encountered in a cave in New Zealand.A little known fact: rabies can remain dormant in your system for years  before the symptoms become apparent.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
