It’s about that time of the year, especially with the low snow year and warm spring temperatures.

Ridiculous amounts of post holing to be had in Rocky. Ice cold temps still too. Even the south facing formations are wet and icy.

I'm thinking about heading up to the Crestones to climb up Ellingwood Ledges in about a week. Anyone have a sense of how much snow to expect up there?

Diamond last Sunday.
We walked across Chasm Lake and there is still plenty of snow below treeline and drifts here and there above.

Did the keyhole route on Long's today, May 26. Microspikes and ice axe conditions in the early morning while everything was still hard. But as soon as the snow hit sun it softened up quick and started post holing. Water running beneath ice.

May 26, 2018. The South Face of the Petit is snow free and nice. The approach is still pretty icy, though, so bring traction if you want to make it easier.

I know this is a rock thread but does anyone know what the Y Couloir on Pikes is like right now? I’ll be in the area in Mid-June and wanted to give it a go. Thanks!

Any word on the Broadway Ledge at the Diamond? Trying not to hike through too much snow.
