Smuggs Gate

Does anyone know if the gate to Smuggs has been opened?

A friend who works at Stowe said it was still gated when I spoke with him yesterday.

Yep still closed. Saw a photo online, still a good bit of snow on the road. 

Does anyone have good boulder suggestions in that area?

judgeing from the photo that I saw you will want micro spikes to hike in.

Even with the gate closed there is plenty of space to park legally next to the gate on the pull off and hike in, the boulders are dry for the most part.

How far is the hike in, we are on a little bit of a tight time frame?

It's right down the street from my van in the parking lot though.

If you want something close to Burlington for a quick hit go to Bolton. If you have time to drive the hour to smuggs the hike in is no more than 10-15 minutes.

Just got back from the boulders. Road is closed but mostly snow free except some large patches towards the top on the Jeff side. I don't know what the Stowe side looks like but I expect it's a little snowier. Boulders are dry but many landings are still snowed in.

Just  heard on the road  report that the notch road is open
