  • I am living in oakland, and looking to practice some trad anchors around the area. Anywhere close? I have climbed at cragmont and not sure where they practice at

DRG has a wood crack simulator that has parallel cracks i.e: (II II II II II II) from fingers to off width it is a good place to create a lot of variety in a small place. Its not real rock but the concepts are the same.

Cragmont or split rock in tiburon would work

Cragmont is where I run anchor building clinics. I usually just have them build ones around the Cragmont Crack and Cragmont Undercling area. You can also go further towards the road and find a number of good spots on that little rocky outcropping near the old shed.

Split rock is possible, but a bit tricker to find good spots and/or need an extra rope to string things together.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
