What is the best place to eat near your favorite climbing area?

The La Garita Store just 1 mile from Penitente canyon has maybe the best burger in the SLV.

I also saw El Farlito (sp?) in El Rito mentioned.  After hearing all the hype, this gringo was highly unimpressed.  Which is too bad being there are very few options in that area.

Lakeview Deli in Saranac Lake! Some of the best sandwiches and service I've ever gotten. Always a staple after a long day in the mountains.

Stich,

What's your go-to in the Springs? I used to go with Alfonso's but they have been bumping up their breakfast burrito prices pretty steadily over the past few years and aren't the screaming deal that they once were.

For breakfast here? Honestly, Rudy's BBQ on 24 has some good breakfast tacos, but I don't have a go-to place. Alfonso's doesn't even melt their shredded cheese in their enchilladas. Nothing like biting into a mass of cold, shredded cheese wrapped in a warm corn tortilla.

Red Rock = In-N-Out

Eldo = Southern Sun

RRG = Miguel's (Can't decide if the pizza is really that good, or if any pizza is good after climbing, but it tastes like the best pizza on the planet in the moment)

Clear Creek Canyon = Golden City Brewery

RMNP = Ed's Cantina (for beer, the food's so-so)

Crazy Horse Buttress = The rotisserie chicken place by the market

Almost every crag in the US-of-A = Chipotle Mexican Grill

We've also got a brand-new bbq place where Dirty Ernie's was, and a brewpub that's opening up this summer.

It's not exactly close to Ten Sleep, but it's hands down the best Mexican food I've ever had. Definitely worth a pilgrimage on a rest day.

Boulder: For anyone (like me) who's not a beer-drinker, go to Zolo or the Rio for the margs.

Do they have a kitchen yet and serve food? That was the missing link there. Otherwise, Woody's Pizza buffet was our go-to in Golden. Pizza and salad after climbing.

Almost forgot eats and beers after Elevenmile, Badger Mountain, etc.

Bierwerks in Woodland Park IF the Pig Out food truck is parked there and open.

OK, a little more out of the way recommendations. Where do you like to eat in:

Walsenberg
Canon City
Ft. Garland (near Sand Dunes)

Still no kitchen, but the best beer in Golden IMO.  Easy enough to Drink at GCB then walk over to Woody's for pizza, or vice versa.

Gunks: Mexican Kitchen is my go to. The restaurant is small and the service can be a little slow, but the food hits the spot after a day of climbing and the beer is cheap.

Yeah, I'm very fond of the place as I used to run into Craig Leubben there. Plus that grumpy ass old man bartender was a constant laugh. If you had a cute girl in your group, you were...golden. If not, ha ha ha.

The Gunks are near Culinary Institute of America, so there's a ton of good food here:

  • Mexican Kitchen
  • Mexicali Blue (slightly more expensive than Mexican Kitchen, but slightly better food)
  • B-Side (burgers)
  • Hokkaido (sushi)
  • Huckleberry (grub pub)
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
