Climbing Chicks and Leg Warmers?

Has anyone else begun to notice the latest phenomena in climbing apparel??

It used to be bouldering dudes wearing beanies in the summer, but now, everywhere I look, I am seeing lady climbers rockin' the throwback legwarmers! Outdoors, indoors, it doesn't seem to matter. Does this stem from a lack of bloodflow to the calves? Induced by overly tight yoga pants?

I am in no way trying to diss any ladies out there, I'm just curious, what's up with the legwarmers?

At my old gym, there was one noteworthy lady who, without fail, would appear at the gym wearing a cornucopia of various fluorescent accessories, the largest and loudest of which were bright neon legwarmers. It certainly wasn't for warmth, as she was usually in a tanktop or sports bra and Verve shorts.

It's style. They like it, I suppose. Who cares, really? Is an emerging non-functional accessory among a small subset of an already small subset of climbers worth a new post on MP?

If they discovered lightning contained vitamins, would we still hide from it?

Tech tip 6.

This has been a terrible fashion trend here in Brasil for the past few years in general. It's not just climbing, but freaking everywhere. The 80s had good music and good movies, but the fashion sucked. Not sure why it's coming back. I wish it wouldn't.

Haha, I used that tech tip when I was chuffing up alpine 5.6s. I now have a pair of proper leg warmers courtesy of my friend from Peru. It's nice to throw them back on in between pitches with my sanuks, instead of rolling down the pants and putting on sweaty socks+approach shoes (while cragging that is).

It is to protect their leg when they do leg jams... so it is aid climbing.

I wear them occasionally outside. They're like arm warmers for running - a fast and efficient way to add a few degrees without having to deal with pants. Let's be real - pants are for suckers. 

I only wear them for instaspray posts especially if I can get a granola bar spunsersh*t out of it
