Problems with posting links to archived webpages

I've tried to post links to archived webpages that are no longer in existence multiple times here and the forum always screws it up when I post the link either directly or using the link function. I remember having issues with this a few months ago, trying to post a link to an archived version of the old MP School of Rock and then also today when trying to post a link in a thread a minute ago.

The link you're posting, when not mangled by our text processor, looks like this:

See how it's really two urls jammed together?  We can't handle that correctly.  Amarius showed one solution (get rid of the " ").  Another solution (perhaps easier) is to create a short link (bit.ly or goo.gl) and post that link instead.
