What annoys you about your local gym?

Name some things about your local climbing gym that just press your buttons.

What do you like about your gym?

If you could change something about your gym, what would it be?

If you could add something to your local gym, what would it be?

This helps me out for an Entrepreneurship project at my college! Thanks!

I recently cancelled my weightlifting gym membership because the gym was dirty and they didn't clean it. Dirt, dust, chalk, stains. Got pretty nasty. Plus, lots of broken equipment and random stuff just left laying around.

The same issues would be deal breakers at the climbing gym.

Tightly packed with tons of people. I know this is just the nature of the beast but it's so much nicer when you don't have people everywhere and people hogging auto belays. When im limited on time and i find myself standing around waiting for the rope to free up or my turn it makes me anxious and I feel hurried when people are obviously waiting for me to finish so I end up climbing shitty or not working the moves the same way I would if it was more quiet. It's actually why I prefer bouldering gyms because it's seem more chill in that sense.

OP, is this for your class room assignment?  Maybe a compliment to the existing thread: "What do you like about your gym?"

The highschool climbing team kids that dyno around the gym power screaming and throw temper tantrums when they can't send something. Them not being there would be a major improvement.

Loud music, or people screaming where you really can't hear your climber or belayer.  I'd say that is what I would change.

Old Lady Helen, is one of the users here, works in a gym, quite good at providing opinions, solicited and otherwise.

Ahh it would be great to have a chance to speak to her! I worked at Triangle Rock Club for a year, but any other outside advice or opinions would be great!

Bad route setters...

Putting moves on routes that could cause injuries... I don't mind risking getting hurt outdoors on real rock but there is no reason to risk breaking a foot cam getting stuck.

When people who are on sighting 5.12+ outdoors can't climb a route they call a 5.8.

Second the humidity.  My gym has good setters, great people, and it gets crowded at predictable times of day.  So you can go on the times you are pretty sure fewer people will be around.

But the humidity is awful.  Even with the bay doors open all the way, 2 small fans mounted near the ceiling don’t do squat

Worst than the setters people who work at a climbing gym who know nothing about climbing!
