Anyone toured in the Carson pass area in the last week or so (or really anywhere in the Tahoe area)? I was up there two weeks ago and coverage looked decent at least on north facing slopes, but I know it's been warm and dry. Trying to decide whether to make the trip up this weekend, so any beta/photos would be super helpful.

I was above silver lake yesterday at about 8000 ft and anything south facing had patchy snow at best, north facing had big drifts but not anything consistent. I don't ski, but I didn't feel the need for snow shoes and did a 4 mile walk in trail running shoes. I hope this helps you make up your mind. Mormon Emigrant trail has packed snow on it but is passable is a FWD Crv.

Waterhouse peak on Sunday. Very warm. Top third was nice, middle third was meh and I hiked down the bottom third. (N aspect).

Okay, not terrible--looks just good enough to keep me very much on the fence. Thanks, James and Bobby, appreciate the replies.
