What do guides do in the winter?

Or summer, depending on the climate?  Although there are some rare places that allow year round climbing, there are many that do not, so I’m wondering how guides who live in seasonal areas and work full time as guides put food on the table during the off-season.  What do you do?

I live in So Cal, so lots of fun stuff.

Odds are if a guide lives somewhere with a strong winter they enjoy winter sports, skiing ice etc. Many migrate to the Southwest.

Also most guides don't actually put food on the table guiding so there's that

Yo Ted---avalanche courses, ice climbing, ski-touring, etc....if you work in those disciplines and have access....lot of guides work seasonally...in canada, for example, there are loads of ski guides who spend summers doing forestry, water stuff, whatever....Canada, like the US, offers single-discipline certifications, so a guide can specialize in whatever s/he likes.......if you pursue certification in all three disciplines (ski, rock, alpine), then you can figure out the work thing. guides in Seattle, Bishop, Boulder, Denver, North Conway, New Paltz.......all guide year-round....and believe it or not, they put food on the table!
