Anyone know what the conditions are like for the approach as far as snow? Thanks!

People are skiing it

Easy walking as of 5/19, crampons not necessary but nice. The top part is skiable but you'll be carrying your skis 4 miles to get to the snow.

From 7/15:

Approach is dry until just above 8300' up Little Slide Canyon. Then it's casual on/off snow all the way up to the base of the Hulk, depending on how direct a line you want. The only unavoidable snow we hit was around 9500', just west of the short cliff where people commonly camp near the base.

The walk-off descent was dry from the notch to the main gully start (check MP decent beta). There was snow for maybe a hundred meters midway down the gully - could be sketch early in the day if frozen, but no problems later in day. Pretty warm temps up there - the snow is melting fast.

Just hiked out yesterday. There is still a lot of snow on the approach. We had a mountaineers ax and used it like a cane for walking up and as a brake for glissading.

Have there been a lot of thunderstorms this season?

Conditions are great up there right now, there also isn't that much snow (although there is some).  We didn't need ice axes.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
