I'm considering free soloing el cap after seeing Alex what's his name on jimmy kimmel. How many liters of water should I carry? Does anyone have a good playlist I can listen to while I climb? Figure it may take a while.

Water is aid, if you want to mimic Alex's style, you need to leave it behind.

As for a playlist, you need about 4 hours of something inspiring. Maybe some Yanni?

Makes sense about water. Is chalk an aid?

Everything is aid. The only way to climb free is to let it all go free, but if you jam your nuts in a crack it would be considered French freeing. Climbing shoes are cheating as well. Length of toe and fingernails are still being debated.

Do it like that picture of the guy hanging one handed with a beer. See if you can do the entire thing with an open can of beer in one hand and not spill any of it.

It'll be hard to progress upwards with a draw clipped to a bolt at your waist like Verm had for that photo.

I think maybe I need to see how long I can climb with no water. Thank you for your help. I love climbing in this country.

Some people have survived up to 8-10 days without water so you should be fine unless you climb very slow. My advice is to leave the hardback books at home and just bring your kindle for your freesolo attempt.

He's talking about the Kurt Albert picture, not the Verm one.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
