Wolf Rock CT

Hello CT and surrounding area climbers!

I and a couple others will be in uncasville next week and we're looking at places to get out and climb. 

I noticed wolf rock is somewhat close. Are there any other areas someone could suggest? Unfortunately we only have about 10 hours and have to cab to Norwich to rent a car cutting down our climbing time.

   I will have a single rack and 60 meter rope and that's it. I read a few things online stating if one wanted to set up a top rope there are trees far back from the edge of the cliff. Are there any bolted anchors at wolf? I only ask as one member of our party is new. This would be her second time outside and not sure if she is comfortable following.

is there a place I can find a topo of the routes or is it pretty self explanatory?

Wolf Rock has several bolts used for antennas that are super bomber.  These are decently spread out, so a tree may be required in some places.  Gear at the top is possible, but only on a few routes.  There aren't that many harder climbs at Wolf.  I would recommend checking out Chatfield hollow, as there are mostly bolted anchors on routes from 5.4 (Kyle's Corner) to 5.13. Some classics: Super Slab (5.6), Jungle Face (5.10), P and H (5.7), Forearm Frenzy (5.11), Shape Shifter 5.12c, and many more.  Bear Rock also has some pretty sweet sport leads.  PM me with any questions!

Are you implying a bolted anchor on Kyle's Corner? That's how it reads but I don't recall that.

The closest climbing to Uncasville is Lantern Hill near the other casino Foxwoods.  Wolf Rock is not worth the drive.  It is very limited and most climbs there are very easy.  You are better off at Chatfield Hollow or Lantern Hill.  Climbs at Lantern Hill are best described here:  http://www.climbri.org/lantern.htm  As is the case in most of CT climbing it is all top-rope.

Yes, you use the one on the face to the right.  It is not directly for that climb, but it works perfectly.
