Will Customs Take My Stuff?

Traveling to Mexico to climb some volcanoes. Will customs confiscate my jerky, baby bell cheese and mountaineering ax in my checked bag? I'm seeing a lot of mixed responses.

Your axe will be fine. People fly with checked mountaineering gear all the time. The jerky and cheese should be fine too provided it's packaged. I've flown internationally with both in checked baggage several times no problem. Just have a backup plan in case customs is hungry that day!
