Just a heads up, according to the Golden Police Department, there has been an increase in vehicle break ins at both parking areas over the last few days. Cars that have been left unlocked have been entered and others have had their windows broken out. Make sure you don't leave any valuables in your vehicle, but if you have to, don't leave them in plain sight. The police are also asking you call 303 384 8045 if you see anyone/anything that looks suspicious.

My roommate works on the trails up there (front range climbing stewards). Last week, his coworker's car was broken into and her purse was stolen. They were up at the top watching it happen but were too far away to do anything about it other than call police. It was a white car that pulled up and a guy got out and went from car to car looking in the windows. He broke her window to get in.

Yesterday, they saw the same car pull up and the guy got out and started looking in windows. They called the cops and heard sirens within a minute. The car left but went to a different parking lot where just one car was parked. He looked in the window but didn't break in. He got back in the car to leave but right when he started to back out, the cop pulled up and boxed him in. Cop got out, gun drawn and kept them there until several more cars showed up to arrest the two.

Hopefully some serious jail time for these felons and recovery of a lot of stolen property.

Man, so cool that this particular thief was caught by the cops! Nice job, Golden PD.

And great job FRCS for keeping your eyes open and helping to catch these guys.

If they cut off their hands, they probably won't steal again.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
