Hey everyone,

There's a new podcast hitting the airwaves! The Firn Line: A Podcast About the Lives of Mountain Climbers arrives this Friday, March 3rd.

A little background: Evan Phillips, the creator of The Firn Line, was an extremely dedicated alpinist and rock climber until an injury took it all away. After a bout of depression, Evan turned that drive and passion to music. For the last decade, Evan has been involved in numerous successful bands, recorded other artists and produced a plethora of amazing content.

He started The Firn Line as a way to stay involved with climbing and the community he treasures.

All of the music on the podcast is his own (and I personally believe it is fantastic).

Season one of the Firn Line centers around Alaska.

Episode one features Charlie Sassara who, among other things, climbed:
-The first winter ascent of Denali's West Rib (second winter ascent of Denali)
-The first ascent of the 7,000' east face of University Peak in the Wrangell-Saint Elias
-The West Pillar of Makalu
-Saved Jack Tackle's life on Mount Augusta in the Wrangell-Saint Elias

Please go to www.TheFirnLine.com and sign up for emails and subscribe to the podcast on iTunes.

You can also follow Evan and the Firn Line on all of the usual social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The firn line is the region on a glacier where above the line snow accumulates and below the line snow melts

YES!

The first episode is now live:

Charlie was a hero of mine as a young climber. I sought to emulate his style of climbing in the mountains as I searched for my own path. They don't make 'em like Charlie anymore.

Did anyone check out the podcast? What did you think?

I thought it was really good. Nice pacing, good interview questions that don't feel too much like an interview. Very conversational - I dig it. The music was good too. Looking forward to the next one. Clint, I can only assume that you'll make an appearance soon - looking forward to it.

When a podcast is on the airwaves we just call that "radio". ;)

I really liked the first episode.

Besides awesome content, the production was some of the best I've encountered on a podcast.

I thought the first episode was great. Kind of a mix between The Enormocast and Dirtbag Diaries. It went into the depth that Chris Kalous goes into on the Enormocast with the hour long format, but gets cleaned up nicely with really cool music interludes like Dirtbag Diaries. Subscribed.

The second episode of the Firn Line podcast is now live. This episode is a continuation of episode one, on Charlie Sassara.

In Episode 2, we hear about Charlie's near miss on the West Pillar of Makalu in the early 1980s.
