How does Gri-gri2 work with thicker ropes (10mm and up) when compared the original Gri-gri? I'm upgrading to a 2 (finally), but trying to decide whether to keep my beloved original around. My perception has been that the original handles better with bigger ropes?

The original is slightly smoother with bigger ropes, but I barely notice switching back and forth in the same day. Rope and hand placement has a lot to do with keeping the 2 smooth, so done right it won't be an issue.

I believe the 3rd generation the gri gri plus should be released in the next month or so.

The grigri 1 is better with bigger or stiffer ropes. I know a lot of sport climbers that prefer to buy cheaper stiff ropes and use the grigri 1 to belay. The grigri 2 is better for the newer thin/supple ropes. I'd keep the grigri 1. If you really don't want it pm me and I'll pay for shipping.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
