Top rope self belay with micro jul

Hello,

Looks like I'll be without a partner this weekend but really want to lap some moderate 1 pitch routes that have anchors with rings at the top.

Anyone have experience self belaying on top rope with a micro jul? Is that device in itself safe enough as it has auto lock or does it need backed up with something?

Terrible idea, you will never ever get it to feed well. If you really want to do this search through the forum, watch some youtube videos and read the rope solo series on Andy Kirkpatricks website.

Always use a backup.
