Taking my dad trout fishing and hoping to sneak in some climbs/boulders. Anyone familiar with area and know any routes my son and I could check out?

There is not an whole lot of climbing on that side of North Carolina. If you are in Hiawassee I would recommend Yonah. From Hiawassee head back over the mountain to Helen. Continue as quick as possible through Helen. It is full of t shirt shops and bad bars. About a 2 miles out of town you will see Yonah on the left. Cant miss it. 180-200 ft Granite face on top of a mountain. Not sure the road name but you will see a road on the left with a Western Sizzler restaurant on the corner. Make the left and then the next left. You will see the National Forest sign leading to the parking lot. And if you decide to stay in Murphy there is always the new casino.

Thanks! I did my first climb on Yonah before the tornado in the 90's. Back then you had to hike in from the highway to the lowers or face. Same approach still or has the road seen more development?
