Pre Grigri 1?

My understanding is that the Grigri that Petzl replaced with the Grigri 2 was not actually the first generation of the device, and an even older model existed before the Grigri "1". Anyone have a photo of it? Maybe with some history info?

I was surfing for something, or other and came across website listing a lot of interesting climbing related hardware.
