Was thinking about heading to Mammoth Thurs-Sun. I've been following the Owens River Fire the past couple days and it looks a little hazy/smoky on the mammoth webcams. Anyone in the area have an update on the smoke situation around Mammoth?

The Blue Cut fire made air quality very foul in the Owens Valley.

I can imagine, we got some of the smoke from that and the Soberanes fire up here in the Tahoe Basin. Any info is appreciated, thanks all.

Check Inyo County web site for current conditions.
When I left Sunday 4500 acres 10% contained
Clark canyon evaced air quality not the best.

we left sunny slopes/tom's place last sunday with roughly a mile to two of visibility. there was a stage 2 health advisory from the GBUAPCD. the smoke continued all the way up to just south of bridgeport but got much lighter farther north.

ultimately the smoke blows around, depending on wind direction, time of day, fire output, temperature, etc.

i've found the site below to be pretty informational. not necessarily that it's accurate all the time, but it gives a good overview of expected wind patterns and smoke distribution for a 3-day period.

Thanks all, that's a pretty sweet nap old5ten. Thanks for sharing. I called Mammoth Mountaineering yesterday and they said it's been smoky on and off but with the precip and cooler temps I'm hoping it'll mellow out.
