Surf/standing waves
|
Does anyone around have the bug to surf? Are there any standing waves in the area? I'm sure there got to be some great ones on the green or Colorado but how about smaller rivers? Weber? Provo? Etc...would be stoked to hear what is out there... cheers.. |

I surf often. Great one in San Diego. Then again we also have the ocean. I'm curious too if there's more. I've never surfed a river. Just go find a fast shallow river and dig one out yourself. I doubt there are many standing rivers that last very long. |

Thx joe. But I was hoping for something in my area (utah) there is one up on the snake . ( i hear) but i have fam, and not much time. Looking for somethIng a bit closer than the coast. And if i did have time to travel there it sure wouldnt be for a standing wave.. But go catch one for me. Aloha! |

You might be well served asking at your local kayak shop. At the Boise whitewater park, the wave is adjustable so some days it's perfect for folks on boards, others it's perfect for boaters. Obviously this is not a normal scenario. |

The wave on the alpine section of the Snake near Jackson is legit at certain flows. It also has near-roadside access. Definitely worth a visit and that area is a good place to take a family vacation. This is the closest quality surf wave to SLC that I know of. |
