Moved to New Haven, CT - Looking for partners!

Hey Everyone!

I just moved to New Haven, CT to start a postdoc at Yale. I'd love to meet some partners and get involved in the local climbing community. It would be great to meet people who are interested in gym climbing in and around New Haven in weekday evenings and also interested in weekend trips to the Gunks, Farley, Rumney, and local CT crags. I lead 10c sport and 7+ trad (trad needs some work!). Have rope, rack, and car---just need partners!

Thanks!
James

Nice! Welcome!

I am a law student at Yale. Lead trad at about the same level and sport in the low 5.10s (but would like to work on it!). I won't be back in town until the end of this month but will be looking to do plenty of climbing this fall.

Can connect you with a few other climbers, as well.

Drop me a note at JMarks07(at)gmail(dot)com and we can go from there.

Always down to get out.....I'm only in my current place until August 25th (Wooster Square) but I have a great training wall in the living room for rainy days as well. Climb mostly at East peak but am down for wherever

It is to hot and humid for me but there is great shade and climbing in CT. The hills around
Avon? Home to so much Trapp Rock both big boulders and tall (2 pitch) cliffs.
I've been climbing there this spring, if you go -leave it as you found it . . .
Pristine, I found no evidence of climbing or any recent trash.
It would be nice if it did not grow 'Monster Energy' drink cans the way the walls off rt7 did?!

Weston ( Great ledge) & Danbury/ Bethel ( Bald Rock Basin+) get almost no visits.
This time of the summer deep shade can change the temperature by 10-15 degrees.
Bring bug stuff,
Remember that the Tics are as dangerous as falling. Check your self regularly.

There is a ton of rock in state parks that see no action.

Also there are climbing zones that are 'in' very expensive residential neighbor hoods, so some level of self policing. Is always appreciated, Please.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
