genuine WTF fixed gear

Seen at the Gunks recently. Not a hex, not even aluminum. Maybe some flavor of that (Australian-made??) plastic chocks/nuts gear?

What route was this on? There are those plastic nuts used in some places in Europe where they don't want to damage the rock... Maybe that's it?

I think it's an artificial heart valve.

I have some plastic nuts made by Mammut that are 1980s vintage. They are solid though, never seen hollow plastic nuts before not even in the Nuts Museum. I would say someone was having some fun especially given the cord and the fact that the "nut" has grove in it.

Does that have something to do with the note on the info station at the über Fall? Looks like the same cordage.
